In Macedonia, many people are involved in tree-planting. JCCP started a project in Macedonia in January 2011. This project aims to deepen cultural exchanges between children who have different ethnic backgrounds through tree planting. The project is operated at present in Petrovac County, which is located 20 km east of Macedonia’s capital, Skopje. Children learn about tree-planning through workshops and are able to deepen friendships during winter preparation for tree-planting. When spring arrives, they start planting trees. As of June 2011, 250 children are already involved in this project and more than 2,000 young trees have been planted. Children are able to strengthen their friendships with other children of different ethnic backgrounds through this project.
