Opening Ceremony in Mathare
June 2013
IIn May of this year, the opening ceremony of the second phase of the Community-Safety Project JCCP conducts was held at Mathare in Kenya.
JCCP has implemented this Community Safety Project in Mathare since 2011 with the help of Grant Aid for Japanese NGO’s Projects, one of the partnership projects of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. And the second phase of this projectstarted in March of 2013. To commemorate this, the opening ceremony took place in May at Jowanga Hotel in Mathare.
The Japanese ambassador, Mr. Takada gave an encouraging speech to the local people. As if responding to it, the youth dance group supported by JCCP performed their traditional dance to appeal for peace. It was the very moment that those who had been victims of conflicts had been born again as catalyst of peace building.
The training for conflict prevention and counselling have already been given though the second phase had just started. JCCP continues conducting this project in order to make the people in Mathare live safely.
