After a conflict has been settled, the phase of post-conflict peace-building begins (PCPB). The aim of PCPB is to peacefully transform the underlying causes and roots of conflicts, thus enabling reconciliation, reconstruction and recovery of the society affected by the conflict.

PCPB is a complex concept which must be adopted to the particular social, economic, cultural and political circumstances and requires many different instruments, among them reparation and capacity building.
