As more Japanese NGOs and other assisting organizations are expanding their field of activities for the emergency humanitarian aid, the system building for crisis management and security management has urgently become the important theme to consider. There is a high chance in facing crisis and dangers while working in the post-conflict chaotic conditions in the unstable regions. Therefore it is necessary to consider the operational objective that emphasizes on the security of the aid workers in order to have effective aid operations.
This workshop invites practical trainers, who have a leading role in the field of crisis management from UNHCR eCentre, in order to hold the “Crisis Management Workshop” from 17th to 18th November, with the purpose of having more effective aid operations by strengthening the NGOs’ specialized ability for crisis management and capacity building.
Furthermore, on November 21st, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan(MOFA) is hosting a Symposium with the theme of “Information Gathering for Managing Crisis for NGO Operations” with five panelists from both Japanese and International NGOs, universities, and mass medias, in order to discuss and exchange opinions about the tasks related to the overseas aid activities operated by NGOs.
